Alberta Electric System Operator

AESO is responsible for the safe, reliable and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES). AESO provides open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta's interconnected power grid for generation and distribution companies and large industrial consumers of electricity. In doing so, the AESO contracts with transmission facility owners to acquire transmission services and, with other parties to provide fair and timely access to the system.
